Isshinryu translates into One Heart Method in English.  That means whatever a person begins, he/she should put all his/her heart into it, and see it through until its completion. Isshinryu is formed by the careful combination of Shorinryu and Gojuryu.  O'Sensei Shimabuku was a brilliant man who used only what he believed to be the best of each style, and incorporated it into what is now Isshinryu.
