Age - rising.
Aka - red.
Ashi - foot.
Aswatti - sit down.
Atama - head.

Bo - 6' wooden staff.

Ju - ten, tenth.

Kata - form, dance of death.
Ki - also known as chi or ch'i...inner energy; spiritual force.
Kiai - yell forced out to increase strength and protection.
Kobudo - weapons.
Kohai - lower than; opposite of Sempai....lower rank for instance.
Kumite - fighting or sparring.
Kyoshi - master (7th-8th Degree); think college masters degree.
Kyu - boy; under black belt level.

Mate - STOP.
Mitsu Tomoae - mind, body, & spirit; the symbol of 3.
Mizu Gami - water goddess.
Mushin-do - the way of no mind (second nature).

Nage - matt  i.e. matt techniques or throwing.
Numbers - ichi, ni, san, chi, go, roku, seichi (nana), hachi, ku, ju.

O'Sensei - grandmaster (sometimes 9th, usually 10th Degree); think college doctorate degree and teaches others to earn them.
Obi - belt.
Osh - same as Yame.

Renshi - accomplished teacher (5th-6th Degree); think college bachelors degree.
Roko - side.

Seisan - thirteen; 1st Isshinryu kata.
Seiuchin - war kata; 2nd Isshinryu kata.
Sempai - ascended to; higher than; always one step ahead; something for which we strive to reach, always.
Sensei - teacher, leader, one who came before you.
Shidoin - black belt instructor, one step before Sensei.
Shihan - supreme teacher, teacher of teachers; think college professor (where teachers get their degrees to teach).
Shitogi - uniform pants.
Shuto - karate chop.
Sunsu - iron man; 7th Isshinryu kata.

Tobi - jump(ing).
Tsuki - punch.

Ushiro - back; rear.
Uwagi - uniform top.

Waza - technique.

Yame - relax, slow down, stop.
Yoko - side blade.
